Dutch Travel Bloggers community: a strong start with 100 members

The interest in the Dutch Travel Bloggers community, aimed at travel bloggers in the Netherlands and Belgium, has exceeded all expectations. With over 150 sign-ups in a short time, the influx became challenging to manage. Not only travel bloggers applied to join, but also other travel professionals, including travel agents, PR agencies, marketing staff, and even directors of travel organizations, expressed their desire to be part of the community.

Balancing growth with quality

While this broad interest is fantastic, it was necessary to take action to ensure the community remains manageable and trustworthy for its members. To maintain focus and clarity, strict rules were introduced, and I spent three full days reviewing and verifying every single member.

Community temporarily closed

The Dutch Travel Bloggers community is now temporarily closed to new members. This pause allows us to focus on building a solid foundation with the current group of verified travel bloggers. For those wishing to join in the future, another opportunity will be announced on LinkedIn in a few weeks or months.

Strict verification process

To ensure the community’s quality and integrity, every existing member has been manually verified. This process included checks on domain ownership, profile photos, “about us” pages, LinkedIn profiles, and even phone numbers. Approximately 50 individuals who did not own or actively manage a travel blog have been removed from the group. This thorough process ensures that the remaining 100 verified travel bloggers from the Netherlands and Belgium form a credible and focused group.

Next steps for the community

The current focus of the Dutch Travel Bloggers community will be on sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and exploring the future direction of the group. There is also significant interest from other travel professionals to join the initiative. While there will be opportunities for them to connect with the community in the future, the exact format and structure are still being determined.

Looking ahead

With a foundation of 100 verified members, the community is off to a strong start. Over the coming months, the goal is to refine the community’s structure, grow its impact, and create opportunities for travel bloggers and other professionals in the travel industry. Stay tuned for further updates as the Dutch Travel Bloggers community continues to evolve and thrive.
